FIRST PLACE CITATION – TEAM FLOCK
James Martin & Stephen Hooper
The jury congratulates team FLOCK for producing a highly sophisticated concept for Park 25, Narnungga. The jury acknowledges that the strength of the entry lies in its strong conceptual basis which is both unique and relevant to the precinct.
FLOCK uses the seasonal native bee flight paths as both ideational and as a formal and structural design generator. Through this interpretation the form is developed through studies that are graphically dynamic and elegant. The proposal challenges conventional shelter typology enriching the Park Lands. The potential of the concept to respond to and incorporate the landscape was also seen as conceptually rigorous.
It is the jury’s view that the active process of design development should stay true to the concept in realising the conceptual sketches. The jury recommends that a leading industry professional is partnered with FLOCK to ensure the physical structure remains true to the conceptual sketches moving beyond their current sectional response.

The scheme has excellent potential to further develop the material palette to assist in achieving a robust and suitably durable installation for desired longevity. The suggested staging of the program responds to the budget whilst providing an avenue to enrich the Park Lands over time.

SECOND PLACE CITATION – TEAM HJS
Joti Weijers-Coghlan, Hiske Weijers & Susanna Horn-Jardemark

The jury congratulates team HJS for exploring an approach which provides an installation which is customisable. Although the sense of scale is varied the perspective images present a subtle simplicity of form and materiality. The repetitious linear element provides grounding and strengthens the entry.
